Tammi Mackeben is the Director of School Counseling for Socorro Independent School District in El Paso. During her 31 years in education, she has been an elementary teacher, school counselor and Director of School Counseling. As a campus counselor, the counseling team received state awards for multiple years as well as being recognized as a Recognized American School Counselor Association (RAMP) program. Tammi was the 2007 Texas State Multi-Level Counselor of the Year and the 2008 National School Counselor of the Year. She was also part of a group of 7 Principal/Counselor teams from across the country working with the College Board on a project to study and reform Principal/Counselor Relationships.
Currently as Director of School Counseling in Socorro ISD, Tammi trains and mentors 123 school counselors in the implementation of the ASCA National Model as well as training across the country on RAMP. Through the use of the ASCA Model, counselors in SISD disaggregate data, formulate programs goals, provide interventions and produce outcome reports for district stakeholders. As President of the Lone Star State School Counselor Association, Tammi truly believes that advocacy is about students and the profession of school counseling.
