Ms. Joanne Sexton currently serves as Director, Augusta University Cyber Institute and Founding Dean of School of Computer and Cyber Sciences at Augusta University and has overall responsibility for the computer, information technology, and cyber defense programs. In addition to developing the cybersecurity curriculum for computer science and information technology programs at Augusta University, Ms. Sexton was instrumental in Augusta University designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency/Department of Homeland Security in April 2016.

Ms. Sexton has the following industry certifications in information security and global information assurance: CISSP, ICCP, GSEC, GCIH, GCIA, and GPEN. Prior to joining the faculty at Augusta University, she served as the first Commanding Officer of what is known today as Navy Information Operations Command Georgia and brings a wealth of Navy IT related experience providing hardware maintenance, software development and support, telecommunications, computer center operations, quality assurance, space operations management, project management, and information security practice.
