Using Pop Culture to Teach Cybersecurity to Generation Z

The Cybersecurity Education, Research & Outreach Center (CEROC) at Tennessee Tech University has developed a series of cybersecurity instructional materials for use in the middle and high school grade levels. K12 educators and instructional influencers will learn about a different approach to presenting cybersecurity instructional topics to Gen Z members through engagement of their interest in science fiction/fantasy worlds such as Harry Potter, the Avengers, Star Wars, etc. Presenters will demonstrate how this generation responds to very different types of stimuli than previous generations. Gen Z, similar to the Millennials before them, wish to understand the "why" and not simply the "how."
