Protecting Viral Stuff: What K12 Students Should Know About Virtual Safety Before Attending a University

Today's connected environment demands that children of all ages be prepared to defend themselves. This session poses several ways this could be accomplished, including defensive awareness, defensive security, and offensive security. Attend this interactive discussion to learn how to teach cybersecurity on several different levels, depending on grade level: cyber "self-defense" for children in grades K-6, defensive security for grades 7-9, and offensive security for grades 10-12. Walk away with concrete methods that can be used to teach security techniques, especially to younger grades; potential opportunities for extracurricular activities involving security for higher grades; and ideas on how to inject security into the overall ecosystem.
